As of now countries are under lockdown but some classes are continue digitally with the help of computers. What happens if you are struggling with sleeping during online class? One of the hardest things for me was to study at home, it always ended when I’m in love with a movie or bed.
So, I during these days no other choice then. The pandemic has made everything possible because every some days a week I wake up before a laptop to attend a class through online means. Believe me, the first days were load of struggles – the hardest days of my study journey. But finally I find what to do about that problem!
If you are taking a lecture online and you are struggling to keep your physical class pace due that sleepy mood every time you seat before a laptop at home, I know how it feels like.

I want to share with you my strategies to combat fall asleep while taking an online class. Maybe they can help you at some point if you try them. Sleeping during online class is not a big deal, not even hard. It is likely possible for the following reasons.
REASONS WHY YOU’LL BE SLEEPING DURING ONLINE CLASS
NO ONE IS READY TO TAKE A CLASS ALONE
We all like that environment of sitting in a class with bunch of people some making noise, others talking and seeing a physical lecturer(The thing I am missing more…) or walking down the campus with your friends, right?
Taking a solo class; it can’t be easy if you are alone and try to get yourself in a mood of class because it’s barely possible. In few minutes you’ll get bored unless you’re familiar with that.
Not a movie, but a class is something you need for two things; one is knowledge, second is exam of course. If you want to pass the module, then you need an attendance to understand the course.
If you get asleep in a class, you’ll be increasing the chances of not getting any clue to what others have studied. Hence, the failure will come during the exam or you won’t be able to understand that course.
But, there are things you can do to avoid these moments because they are totally disturbing and sucking. During the first lockdown (March 2020), that’s when I started to use the techniques and they worked perfectly.
WAYS TO AVOID SLEEPING IN A DIGITAL CLASS
Ways to avoid sleeping in an internet-based classroom are four, let’s see what we can do about that and beat the sleepiness. Here are the techniques:
- Take a walk
- Drink enough water during class
- Eat in the morning(Getting hungry can cause you to sleep)
- Wash your face(Refresh yourself)

TAKE A WALK
Believe me, if you’re sleeping the body is not being active, it’s like you’re doing nothing at all. You need something that makes your body active.
What you need to do is to stand up and take a short walk to be able to reactivate your mind, otherwise you don’t stand a chance of getting out of that.
You don’t need to make it hard, just a soft work around the yard is enough to get you back in the rhythm. Once you feel fresh, you can get back to attend.
HYDRATE YOURSELF OFTEN
While studying in classroom, your brain will need some energy and so providing it with water or any other drink(An alcohol is a bad idea) can be a good idea to keep you focused.
Healthline insists that hydrating while working contribute to the level of concentration the body can have.
Drink enough, to stay awake and concentrated because we’re afraid of wanting to piss so many time. Don’t worry, you’re home no one is going to stare at you or deny you.
EAT COOKED FOOD BEFORE CLASS
I am talking about energy, that’s the same here. You can take a breakfast of a tea and bread probably, I have tried to do that but it failed. That’s when I took an action of eating cooked food.
I’m sure that I’m not the only one who benefits from eating cooked food in the morning before a class.
The reason for this, is that I can’t get hungry very soon which can disturb my attention and class. You know that hunger can make you sleep, right?
WASH YOUR FACE
If you want to be fresh when you’re sleeping in the classroom, wash you face. That’s all! Wait, it’s not necessary that you use soap and other complications like you have a rendezvous.
Just use water only, all you need is to make your face wet, when I feel sleepy every time not necessarily during class, I do because it helps me to refresh my eyes.
To be honest, I’m not good at concentrating myself to a class for class, that’s what leads me to start sleeping during online class, but I have to find concentration anyway.
